THE PANTILES 1. 1746 (South East Side) Nos 51 to 55 (odd) TQ 5838 NW 1/8 20.5.52. II GV -
Originally the lower Assembly Rooms later the Royal Victoria Hotel. Now sale rooms. Early C19. 4 storeys and basement stuccoed, the ground floor rusticated. Parapet with small panel and cap above each pilaster and large scrolled panel in the centre marked 'Royal Victoria Pantechnicon'. 4 pilasters from lst to 3rd floor. Stringcourse above each floor. Cast iron balcony on 1st floor. 8 sashes in moulded surrounds with ost glazing bars intact. Porch with fluted Doric columns and above the entablature 2 large shields supported by the lion and the unicorn with the crown in the centre. the Coat of Arms of the Duke and Duchess of Kent. Nos 45 to 61 (odd) form a group together with Nos 21 to 31a (odd).
