7/441 Row of 6 Woodhams headstones approx 6m south of the nave of the Church of St Martin GV II
Row of 7 headstones. All mid C18 memorials to members of the Woodhams family. All are upright sandstone slabs standing between 450mm - 750mm high. Most have simple shaped heads carved with a winged cherub's head and inscriptions of Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, sometimes with italics. The simplest is third from the left in memory of John Woodhams (date buried). It has no carving and an inscription of capitals only. The best at the left end is in memory of Sarah Woodhams (died 1760). Here the cherub's head is set amongst carved flowers and fruit and the inscription begins with Gothic lettering. Only the right end one in memory of Ann Woodhams (died 1741) has a framed inscription.
