Description
                            THE COMMON 1. l746                                           Mount Edgcumbe TQ 5739 SE 4/66            24.l1.66. II                         GV 2. Early C19.  3 storeys on the north-east side.  2 storeys on the south-west side. Ground floor painted brick, painted tiles on 1st floor.  3 windows. On the north-east side the centre window bay projects and on its flanks on the 1st floor has small wooden trellised balconies with hoods.  2 modern bay windows have been built out on the ground floor.  The south-west front has a 3-light curved bay window on both floors.  Staircase of unusual design for a house of this size.  A tablet on the house records that Admiral Sir W E Parry, Explorer (1790-1855) lived there. Mount Edgcumbe, Mount Edgcumbe Cottage and Ephraim Lodge form a group.
