Description

BENENDEN TQ8132 ROLVENDEN ROAD 1350-0/7/88 Barn at West Pullington approx 15 07/07/89 metres North of Pullington House II Barn. Mid C18 altered in C19 and C20. Timber-framed barn on brick plinth clad in weatherboarding with half-hipped peg-tiled roof. Central cart entrance. 5 bay barn aisled to rear with staggered purlin roof and kingposts with no ridgepiece. Jowled upright posts with curved profiles. Wall frame has midrail and diagonal braces. Inserted C19 floors at either end. The right hand end appears to have been used in early C20 as a dwelling, possibly a temporary dwelling for a pig man. Plank door to left hand side leading to integral outshut, probably erected at some time as main body of barn with staggered purlins. Some beaded weatherboarding. Outshut to other side bonded and part lined with concrete (incised like masonry with picture rail. Ceiling plastered at one time). Listing NGR: TQ8148232632
