Description

BENENDEN TQ83NW DOCKENDEN LANE (OFF) 1350-0/1/29 Dockenden II House. C16 house, probably originally with smoke bay. Later converted to lobby entrance house. Timber-framed building, refronted in early C19 in red brick with grey headers, partly in English bond, to ground floor and tile hung to 1st floor. Steeply pitched old tiled roof with cemented chimneystack. 2 storeys, 3 windows. C20 casements. Left side early C19 plank door. Right side elevation has C20 brickwork and external chimneystack. Early C19 lean to extension to left in Flemish bond. Rear elevation has early C10 lean to extension with iron door knocker and letterbox. Interior has open fireplace with lambs' tongue stops. Beehive-shaped bread oven and salt cupboard. Some original diamond-mullioned windows in frame. Coffin hatch. 1st floor has exposed jowled posts and section of plaster with pargetting. C16 or early C17 3 plank door. Ashlaren. Listing NGR: TQ8173635415
