17/327                        Weald Bazaar and house                                                       attached GV                                                    II House and shop.  C18.  Timber framed and weather-boarded with plain tiled roof. Two storeys on brick base with hipped roof and stacks to centre right and to end left.  Regular fenestration to house portion with 3 glazing bar sashes on first floor and 2 on ground floor and central panelled door with semi-circular fanlight and open pediment on pilasters.  Shop to right with glazing bar sash on first floor and C20 bay on ground floor with plate glass windows.  Half-glazed corner door to right.  Multi-paned shop window to right return.  Originally built as a mill house (a nearby windmill is illustrated in early prints of Hawkhurst), the property became a public house ('The Flying Horse', later 'The Weald of Kent') and a shop by early C20.
