FRITTENDEN THE STREET TQ 8040-8140 (north west side) 14/56 Sundial about 30 metres south of Church of St Mary GV II Sundial. Dated 1847, by Watkins and Hill, Charing Cross, London. Stone with bronze dial and gnomen. Octagonal base, with square plan stem, with clustered nook shafts, changing the plan to clover-leaf composed of 4 capital-shaped heads supporting clover-leaf shaped dial with simple gnomen. Inscribed on dial plate with fleur-de-lys and makers' names around the crown of the stem is inscribed "Time passeth away like a shadow Man is like a thing of nought"
