TQ 55 41 SPELDHURST SPELDHURST HILL (north side), SPELDHURST 12/552 Anonymous chest tomb approx 8m south of the nave of the Church of St Mary the Virgin GV II
Chest tomb. Probably late C18. Sandstone. Chest tomb is rectangular in plan with moulded corner balusters carved with ribbons and nut husk ornament. Flat lid with moulded edges and moulded plinth. Panels with concave corners has bead-moulded frame. Small sunbursts in the corners. The south side is inscribed but is so worn as to be illegible in all but perfect lighting conditions.
