BENENDEN TQ83SW GODDARD'S GREEN 1350-0/3/38 The Red House GV II* House. c.1600 timber-framed building refronted in C18. Exterior clad in fishscale tiles. Hipped tiled roof. 2 storeys; 5 windows. C19 casements. Hipped brick porch with early C19 6 panelled door. Extension of 1 bay to left hand side. Interior ground floor parlour has fine c.1600 roll-moulded ceiling and 4-centred arched stone fireplace with blank shield in the spandrels. 1st floor room above has 4-centred arched stone fireplace and cross beams with lambs' tongue stops. Several original late C16 plank doors. Jowled posts and angled queen post roof with through purlins and inserted ridgepiece. Original floor-boards. Listing NGR: TQ8235034668
