II
House, formerly farmhouse. Late C16 house of 3½ bays extended to right by one bay c.1650 and refenestrated c.1910 when L wing was added to east reusing old materials. Original part timber framed on stone plinth, the ground floor refaced in brickwork in the late C18 or early C19 on the ground floor. Left hand part has exposed framing on 1st floor with curved tension braces and 1 blocked original mullioned original mullioned window. Mid C17 extension has timbers of thinner scantling exposed on the 1st floor with 1 curved and 1 diagonal tension brace. Hipped thatched roof. Early C17 off central chimneystack with cemented top, square merging into oval., and end right ridge chimneystack. 4 casement windows of c.1910. Right side elevation restored C20 with frame of thin scantling with long curved braces and 2 buttresses. Left side elevation has 1 blocked mullioned window to 1st floor and C1910 casement to ground floor. Catslide to rear with mostly modern brickwork except for left end. 4 casement windows on this elevation.
c.1910 wing to east has some reused timbers incorporated in C20 brickwork on the ground floor. This has curved braces, 3 probably reproduction mullioned windows and arched doorcase. 1st floor has framing of thin scantling and 3 casement windows. Interior contains on ground floor of the c1650 addition a very thick spine beam with a curved chamfer, a brick fireplace with wooden bressumer and a cl7 plank door. The dining room in the C16 part has the base of a late c16 or early C17 built in oak dresser. 4 plank door to 1st floor room. The C1910 wing contains a late c16 or early C17 oak straight flight staircase, probably repositioned from the older part of the house cl9lO. Jowled posts visible. Roof not accessible at time of survey.
