Description

HORSMONDOEN BRICK KILN LANE TQ 73 NW (south east side) 4/17 Pair of Chest tombs of Cole Family, about 20 metres south east of Church of St.Margaret. GV II Two chest tombs on a single raised stone platform, originally railed, both chests late C18. That to north on double stepped base with moulded plinth and urn shaped corner piers, gadrooned and with fluted stems, with raised and fielded inscription panels, the corners chamfered out and with scalloped enrichment. Moulded top slab inscribed and with Coat of Arms. Southern chest slightly earlier in character, on stepped base with moulded plinth and urn shaped corner piers with gadrooned bowl, with raised and fielded inscription panels, the corners chamfered out, and with moulded top slab inscribed and with Coat of Arms.
