Description

CRANBROOK HARTLEY ROAD TQ 73 SE (south side) 6/132 - Hartley Farmhouse - II Hall-house, now house. Early C16, clad in C19. Timber framed and clad in C19. Timber framed and clad in plain and scalloped tile hanging. Plain tiled hipped roof with tall central red brick stack. 3-bay hall-house plan. 2 storeys; irregular fenestration of 3 windows on first floor and 4 on ground floor, 3 closely grouped to left of door, all wooden casements. Central boarded door with shallow pentice hood on brackets. C20 catslide extension at right end. Interior: Substantial frame visible. Large fireplaces in sitting and dining rooms. 2 blocked windows with diagonal mullions survive in bedroom upstairs. Arched hall truss survives with crown post missing, though notches survive. Curbed braces visible on first floor. Listing NGR: TQ7611335101
