HAWKHURST THE MOOR TQ 7429-7529 (south side)
18/373 Three chest tombs about 2 metres east of Church of St Lawrence GV II Three chest tombs. The northernmost early C18, sunk into the earth, only the reverse-ogee moulded top slab easily visible. The southernmost early C18, with stepped base, ogee moulded plinth, raised and fielded side panels and corner piers and basalt or slate moulded top slab. Central chest to John Baker, mid C18, with platform and enriched chest with moulded base, raised and fielded panels, urn- shaped corner piers, gadrooned and with egg and tongue cornice, and moulded top slab with inscribed arms cartouche.
