Description

TQ 64 NW CAPEL TUDLEY LANE (off), SOMERHILL PARK 1/300 Terrace Walls around the south and east sides of Somerhill including the sunken lane approx 5m north of the Somerhill stable yard GV II Terrace walls and sunken lane. Circa 1879. Local sandstone ashlar. Terraced garden lawns on the south and east sides of the main block of Somerhill (q.v.) are revetted by stone ashlar walls which rise as short parapet walls with plain flat coping. Square terminal posts. The eastern wall extends northwards stopping at a contemporary sunken service lane which passes by the northern end. It is deep, narrow with battered walls. It is spanned by a pedestrian bridge with walls each side in the same style as the terrace wall parapets. This bridge crosses from the house side of the walled gardens to north.
