Description

TR 03 NE ALDINGTON FRITH ROAD (north side) 4/32 Quested's Cottage GV II House. C16, altered 1778. Timber framed and clad, with painted ragstone and tile hanging with plain tiled roof. One storey and attic with hipped roof with gablets and central stack cluster and 2 hipped dormers. Two wooden casements on ground floor and half-glazed door (with painted glass) to centre in gabled porch. Catslide outshot to rear with dormer and stack and half-glazed door, and brick dated 1778. Interior: full frame visible with tie-beam roof. Large inglenooks. The cottage is named after Cephas Quested, notorious smuggler whose home this was late C18. Listing NGR: TR0523136902
