Description

TR 04 NE HASTINGLEIGH HASSELL STREET 2/312 Hazel Tree Farmhouse II House, formerly farmhouse. Late C15 timber framed open hall-house, in later C16 adapted into a lobby entrance house refronted in brick in C18, converted into cottages in late C18 or early C19 and refenestrated in C20. Exterior red brick with grey headers on deep plinth to left. To right is a fragment of timber framing with plastered infill. Hipped tiled roof with central brick stack. 1 storey and attics 3 windows. C20 casements to attics with leaded lights and gabled dormers.. Ground floor has C20 casements, the right hand one with transom. Blocked cellar window to left side of basement. S-shaped iron tie. Brick and weatherboarded extension to right hand side. Left side elevation has 2 12-pane sashes. Large C20 extension to rear. Interior has moulded crenel- lated dais beam with bracket to centre room which also has an inserted C16 roll moulded spire beam with lambs tongue stops and early C19 beaded floor joists. Kitchen has original C15 ceiling beams. The parlour has a rough 2 inch chamfered spine beam with lambs tongue stops and large open fireplace. 1st floor has jowled upright posts and crown post roof with head braces to collar beam and arched braces. Cupboard at back of large inserted chimneystack has small leaded light internal window. Staircase has early C19 stick balusters. Listing NGR: TR0915846434
