Description

ROCHESTER HIGH STREET TQ 7468 SW 9/136 Nos 107 and 109 24.10.50 GV II Former house (No 107) with annexe (No 109), now offices. Late C18 and c.1800 respectively. Red brick with some stucco dressings; Welsh slate hipped roofs. Large stack to valley. No 107: double-depth plan; 3 storeys, regular 4 window range; rebuilt parapet with stone coping and moulded brick cornice; upper floors with 12-pane horned sashes under flat rubbed brick arches; 1st floor sill band. Ground floor with rusticated stucco, 3 late-C20 horned sash windows and (to the right) a doorway with panelled pilasters and reveals, cornice with running-dog frieze; panelled door under rectangular overlight with decorative glazing bars. No 105, attached but set back from street, 2 storeys and basement (with area); 2 bays, the windows recessed and set under superordinate arches, the pilasters with panelled capitals; recessed end pieces. The moulded cornice over window bays only is returned at ends. Horned sashes in reveals (6 and 12 panes to 2nd and 1st floors) under flat rubbed brick arches. Spear railings between pavement and area. Rear: weatherboarded with irregularly disposed sash sindows. Interior not inspected but understood to contain no contemporary fittings.
