Description

1. 5272 SMARDEN TILDEN Tilden Baptist Chapel TQ 8741 30/116 II 2. Dated 1892, but a rebuilding of an earlier chapel. Inscription: "This was the gift of James Tilden of High Halden in Kent, Yeoman and was built in the year 1726. Rebuilt 1892". One storey red brick. Gable end. Gabled porch bearing inscription. Brick pilasters run the whole height of the building. Baptistery with tiled roof. Included for historical interest. The cemetry has some C18 table tombs, some double headstones and some headstones with cherub or skull motif. Listing NGR: TQ8733441160
