Description

WITTERSHAM 945/0/10016 SWAN STREET 27-NOV-03 29 II Cottage. Late C18 or early C19 with C20 extensions. Timber-framed, mainly clad in painted weatherboarding but rear wing has brick ground floor and tile-hung gable. Tiled roof with three brick chimneystacks. Front range of two storeys: two windows; rear wing of two storeys: one window. Two bay end chimneystack house with a roughly contemporary T-wing. EXTERIOR: Front range is timber-framed, clad in painted weatherboarding with tiled roof and end brick chimneystacks, the right side one projecting. Two later C19 tripartite wooden casements. Central wooden doorcase with flat wooden hood on brackets and original four-panelled flush-panelled door. T-wing is of lower elevation with one C20 casement. C20 one storey flat-roofed extensions to left side and rear not of special interest. Little altered Kentish vernacular cottage retaining original plan form.
