The Stables
GV II
Stables. Early-mid C18. English bond brick and slate roof. Single-depth plan.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 10-window range. Coped gables with kneelers to the ends of a series of 2-windowstables with segmental-arched openings, (all boarded at time of Review, March 1994), each with left-hand doorways, and smaller first-floor hay loft openings above. INTERIOR: altered but retains original roof structure (not seen).
HISTORY: adjoins the garden walls associated with the Officers' Terrace (qv), for which it provided stabling. Part of a complete naval dockyard.
