House. c1730, extended C19. Yellow and red brick,           weatherboarded rear ranges, with brick party wall stack, and a           tiled roof.           STYLE: Early Georgian.           PLAN: double-depth plan with rear range.           EXTERIOR: 3 storeys and basement; 3-window range. A parapeted           front with a low rendered plinth, a fine original doorcase has           rusticated pilasters to an entablature with triglyphs, stags           heads and roses in the metopes, and a cornice set forward over           the ends, to a door with 8 raised panels and 2 glazed top           panels. Segmental-arched heads to horned 6/6-pane sashes,           3/6-paned attic sashes, in flush exposed frames.           Rear C19 N range with E range enclosing courtyard.           INTERIOR: a good and complete interior includes an entrance           stair hall divided by a round archway, with a fine Doric           entrance to the front room, similar to the front doorway with           fluted pilasters to an entablature, and a dogleg stair with           fluted newels, column on vase balusters, ramped rail and           curtail, with a round-arched rear stair light; front           ground-floor room has a good stone fire surround with raised           panels; 6-panel doors, stone fireplaces, box cornices, and           panelled shutters.           SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached basement area cast-iron railings           with urn finials, and iron handrail to entrance.           HISTORY: Prospect Row was built between 1705 and 1756.
