Range of 5 oasthouses, now houses and theatre. c1850, converted to houses c1980. Flemish bond brick with gable stack and tiled roof. PLAN: rectangular plan store range with E oasts, 2 square oasts at S end and 3 round ones to the rear of the long range. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 14-bay range. Long store has N 1-window gable with 2 doorways, and a moulded stack, and a 3-window range to the rear block; rubbed red brick cambered heads and exposed frames with 6/6-pane sashes, 3/6-pane sashes in S return, and a central recessed bay with late C20 entrances. Two first-floor former loading doorways at the S end. Oasts have inserted windows, angled brick eaves and timber cowls. The NE corner has a truncated pyramidal roof. INTERIOR: altered during conversion with insertion of dividing walls and floors. Externally complete and an historically significant survival in its present urban context.
