Description

TR 24 NW DENTON AND WOOTTON GEDDINGE 1/49 Geddinge Farmhouse GV II House. C16 or earlier, extended and clad C17 and C18. Timber framed and clad with red brick, with part in English bond. Right return of brick and flint chequer work. Plain tiled roof. Four bay hall house with cross wing in plan. Two storeys, with projecting storey hipped wing to left, and stacks to left and projecting and offset at end right. Three tripartite sashes and single sash to centre left on first floor, and 2 cambered tripartite sashes with central wooden casement on ground floor. Boarded door in cambered opening to centre left, misshapen through subsidence. The brickwork on this elevation built in phases and not bonded together. Wing to left on flint plinth in irregular bond brick, the upper stage rebuilt C18 with some blue brick. Metal casements in end elevation; 1 segmental wooden casement and half glazed door in re-entrant. Weatherboarded outshot on left return, with external boarded loft door, and segmental headed doorways. Right return with fine C16 brick and lozenge-shaped flint panels, moulded plinth, offset and moulded stack, and blocked hollow chamfered mullioned windows. Rear elevation; some Header and English bond brickwork at base. Interior: full and possibly early frame of large scantling visible in both wings. Large inglenooks, and fine moulded brick and rendered fireplace at end right, with hollow chamfered four centred arch with shield spandrels. Listing NGR: TR2394346384
