Description

GILLINGHAM TQ86NW HIGH STREET, Rainham 686-1/8/104 (North side) 24/02/50 No.113 The Old Parsonage GV II House. Mid-late C17, C19 front left extension, altered mid C20. Flemish bond brick with a large central ridge stack to rear roof, and a tiled roof with 2 hips at the front and an axial rear connecting ridge. PLAN: double-depth with central lobby entry. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 2-window range. Double fronted with a plat band all round and projecting rafters, a central C20 timber doorcase with architrave, bracketed pediment and panelled door; flanking segmental-arched ground-floor windows, and C20 first-floor tripartite 6/6-pane sash, and 2 casement hipped dormers. To the left a mid C19 projecting service block of similar materials with hipped roof, left-hand stacks and C20 3-light casement to the front. The left-hand return has a hipped possible stair tower. INTERIOR: not inspected. HISTORY: possibly an early form of double-pile house, with a notably large central stack. Listing NGR: TQ8180665906
