GILLINGHAM TQ86NW HIGH STREET, Rainham 686-1/8/106 (South side) 24/02/50 No.174 GV II House, now retirement home. Early C18, altered mid-late C19, and late C20. Brick stuccoed gables, brick left-hand gable stack and slate roof. STYLE: Early Georgian. PLAN: Double-depth. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic; 5-window range. Double-fronted with a plinth, plat band and barge boards, a timber doorcase has fluted pilasters and triglyphs to an open pediment, segmental-arched doorway with panelled sides and a 10-panel door, the top pair glazed; rubbed brick segmental arches to 6/6-pane sashes in flush frames. 3 large late C19 gabled dormers have glazed sides, 6/6-pane sashes and barge boards and finials. Rear has a central doorway; partly included within mid C20 building. INTERIOR: altered and partly rebuilt late C20. Listing NGR: TQ8208365791
