TR 24 SE CAPEL-LE-FERNE 4/27 Row of 10 head- stones about 1 to 20 metres south of Church of St Mary GV II Row of 10 headstones. Thomas Hammond, d.1750. About 2 ½ feet high decorated with 4 rosettes on a scrolled head. George Andrews, C18. About 2 feet high with inscription on fielded panel, the semi-circular head decorated with hourglass and death's head. William Andrews, C18. About 2 ½ feet high, decorated with death's head and hourglass. Elizabeth Andrews, d.1758. About 2feet high, with triple segmental head, decorated with skull and 2 hourglasses. John Knott, Yeoman, d.1705. Triple segmental head with crude representations of skull and hourglass. Frances Knott, d.1698. Plain inscription on stone about 1½ feet. high. Mary wife of John Knott, mid C18. About 3 feet high with cornice on scrools, decorated with cherub's head. Jane Knott, d.1732. About 3½ feet high with segmental head and skull motifs. John Knott of Dover, twice mayor of that town, d.1727. About 3½ feet high with scrolled shoulders decorated with skull and bones, pierced heart, winged hourglass and fleur de lys. John Knott, d.1770. About 3½ feet high, with fine calligraphic inscription, scrolled cornice and motto over scallops and oil lamps.
