Description

1. 5281 GUILDHALL STREET (North East Side) FOLKESTONE The Guildhall TR 2235 NE 1/115 TR 2236 SE 4/115 II Begun in 1856 by Joseph Messenger but completed by Whichcord and Blandford. Dated 1860. 2 storeys Portland stone. Hipped slate roof. Stone balustraded parapet with clock and curved pediment flanked by console brackets upended. Modillion cornice. 5 Roman Corinthian Halt columns. 5 windows to the lst floor with verticals only. Moulded architraves. Alternate curved and triangular pediments and brackets. Balustrading beneath. The ground floor is rusticated and has 3 round-headed windows with keystones over. Left side entrance similar. Round-headed doorcase. Tuscan portico with coupled columns. Brick side elevation. Band between ground and 1st floor with dentils. _ Listing NGR: TR2290636019
