Description

TR 14 NE ELHAM WINGMORE 2/94 River Cottage 29.12.66 GV II House. Late C16 or early C17 restored in late C20. Timber framed with rendered infilling. Left gable end painted brick on ground floor, tile-hung above. Plain tile roof. 5 timber-framed bays, that to left end short. 2 storeys, on flint plinth. Continuous jetty on solid- spandrel brackets, formerly returning along left gable end on dragon post. Broadly-spaced framing. Tension brace to left end of ground floor and both ends of first floor, and pair between central and left- central bay on each floor. Hipped roof. Brick ridge stack to right of centre, to right end of right-central bay. Irregular fenestration of 3 leaded casements; one three-light towards left end, one two- light towards centre, and one two-light to right. Ribbed door in painted brick porch with hipped plain tile roof under stack. Interior: exposed framing. Dragon beam and axial joists to short left end bay. Chamfered axial beam to left-central bay and another to central bay. Cross-beam morticed for partition between them, with arch-braced first-floor partition above. Cross-beam and arch-braced tie-beam several feet left of stack. Shaped jowls to principal posts. Complete four-light diamond mullion rear window to first floor. Brick fireplace with wooden bressumer to left side of stack. Listing NGR: TR1863646634
