Description

TR 14 SW LYMINGE WOODLANE ROAD (south side) 3/169 Hemstead II Farmhouse, now house. C17, with earlier section to left, and with late C18 facade and 1930's alterations. Timber framed. Front elevation red and grey brick in Flemish-type bond. Shingled (formerly plain tile) roof. Lobby-entry plan of 3, or possibly 5, timber-framed bays including central stack bay. Further, earlier, bay to left. 2 storeys and attic on red and grey brick plinth. Hipped roof, right hip returning to rear with gablet. Brick ridge stack to right of centre. One small hipped dormer. Irregular fenestration of three three-light 1930's metal casements; two to left and one to right of stack. Blocked window under stack. Segmental heads to ground-floor windows. Half- glazed door under stack, with flat corniced hood and broad trellised porch, Red and grey brick lean-to to right. Two-storey late C18 rear return wing to right with roof hipped to rear. Rear lean-to to left, built up to two storeys in 1930's. 1773 scratch date by front door. Interior: left end bay jettied (now internally) to right, with joists of relatively small scantling. Slightly lower ceiling to rest of ground floor. Chamfered cross beam and tenoned axial beam to two (or four) bays flanking stack on each floor. Brick fireplaces with wooden bressumers. Brick infilling to first-floor rear wall (now internal). Listing NGR: TR1391141813
