TR 14 SE LYMINGE NORTH LYMINGE LANE (east side) North Lyminge 4/157 Shilston House II House. C15, with C16 or C17 alterations, and mid C18 facade. Timber framed. Front elevation chequered red and grey brick. Right gable end rendered, rear elevation brick. Plain tile roof. Open hall of two timber-framed bays, and storeyed end bay to right. Storeyed left end bay non-extant. Probably a Wealden, with hall facade built out. 2 storeys. Plat band. Steeply-pitched hipped roof. Ridge stack towards left end, (to right end of left hall bay), and projecting gable-end stack to right. Irregular fenestration of three C19 tripartite sashes in open boxes. Half-glazed double doors towards centre. Lean-to to left gable end. Scratch dates of 1750, with various initials, to bricks surrounding door. Interior: vestiges of moulded right end-of-hall beam. Boxed axial beam to right ground-floor room. Doubly-hollow- chamfered central-truss tie-beam, with evidence for virtually solid- spandrel arch braces. Moulded octagonal crown post. Plain crown post with foot braces to right end of hall, with vertical queen struts to rafters and mortices for stave partition under collar. Evidence for inner hall wall-plate towards front of house. Chamfered axial beam and bevelled joists to C16 or C17 inserted floor in right hall bay. Bevelled axial joists to left hall bay. Brick fireplace with wooden bressumer to right side of stack.
