Description

TR 14 SE ELHAM SHUTTLESFIELD LANE (south-west side) Ottinge 4/54 Lower Court and Gatepiers 29.12.66 attached to right II Farmhouse, now house. Circa 1707, with addition of circa 1825, altered or partly rebuilt c.1927, in an early C18 style. Red and grey brick in Flemish bond to ground floor, red brick in Flemish bond to first floor. Plain tile roof. 2 storeys, on galleted stone plinth. Plat band. Modillioned wooden eaves cornice. Hipped roof. Filleted red and grey brick ridge stack towards left end. Irregular fenestration of 5 alternating two-and three-light casements. Four three-light casements with segmental heads to ground floor. Central door of six fielded and enriched panels, with bolection-moulded architrave, pulvinated frieze, and open-topped triangular pediment. Datestone R R M 1707 to first floor. Two storey L-plan rear wing to right, with 1825 datestone; red and grey brick in Flemish bond, with dentilled brick eaves cornice, plain tile roof, four stacks, two first-floor casements with segmental heads to left side, and two to front side of long left return. Interior not inspected. Rectangular brick gatepiers set in wall attached to right side of main range, with old vertically-tooled rectangular stone caps and ball finials. Wall in front of house has datestone M.V.G. 1927. Listing NGR: TR1690242288
