Description
Two banks running NE-SW, and approaching, but not joining, towards the SW on a slight hill sloping upwards from N to S. Slight swing of S end of W bank suggests either an internal entrance of the beginning of the S section of the enceinte. At the N end the banks disappear, running into a wooded valley, and also into an area now largely quarried away. No sign of a ditch entrance, about 15' above interior about 8'.
NE bank has much tree cover at its S-end, sparser cover to N. These are traces of an external ditch under long grass and weeds. The break in this bank does not appear to be an original entrance. The W bank is most impressive at its S end where it is clearly visible under long grass. Further N there is a 30yd break in the earthwork and the section of bank to the N of this break is very overgrown with bramble, scrub etc. The interior is orchard, of varying date, with farm buildings towards the S end.
