Description
Probably contemporary with the Main Gate - early 18th century. Red bric, buttressed at intervals and up to 20ft high in parts. Much of the original wall has been demolished but substantial lengths still remain. Part of the wall once formed the eastern boundary wall of the Officers' Gardens. Here it is some six and a half feet high and cement capped. Each garden has its own doorway. These are segmental headed flanked by brick pilasters. S of the Main Gate; this is still the boundary of the present dockyard. Six entrances have later been inserted here for pedestrians.
