Description
The remains of the cloisters of Rochester Priory Cloister (Three major masonry sides, the structure of the cloister on the NE has been destroyed by alterations to the Catherdral). To the south the fracter door, lavatorium and towel recess, walling much rebuilt. To the west footings only, cellars range remains of gatehouse. To the east Chapter House façade and some remains of Chapter hosue to rear.
The monument is described in AM7. The façade of the chapter house which rises to two storeys is in good condition. The rest of the the east side of the cloister is rather weathered. The fourth arch from the NE corner is a doorway with a scene of a "Ram caught in the Thicket" carved on the tympanum. The remains of the gatehouse at the SE cornerare about 4m high.
