Description

TR 05 NW BOUGHTON CLOCKHOUSE 4/63 Colkins 27.8.52 GV II* House. Dated 1729 and extended early C19 and C20. For Richard Stacey, Master Builder of the King's Yard at Deptford. Red brick, with grey headers on left return. Plain tiled roof. Three storeys and basement on plinth, with projecting eaves and hipped roof with stacks to rear left and rear right. Regular fenestration of 3 glazing bar sashes on first and second floors and 2 on ground floor, all with segmental heads. Central door of 6 raised and fielded panels with traceried rectangular fanlight, pilaster surround and flat hood on consoles. Basement opening to left and right. Recessed 2 storey hipped wing to right, with segmental headed windows and stacks at end rights fronted by single storey C20 flat roofed extension. Left return: in grey headers with red brick dressings. Three storeys with 5 window bays, irregularly blank or with glazing bar sashes, and stone clock face set centrally over top storey. Interior: cellar stair with turned balusters. Main stairs with dog leg, 1 flight on ground floor, and 2 flights to front-and rear of house on first and second floors. Turned balusters and ramped and mounted handrails on open strings with brackets. Ramped dado panelling to staircase: some wainscotting. Re-set date plaque now on rear wall with inscription: Rd. Stacey Sr. Wm. Stacey Ir. o B't/Ann. 1729 Listing NGR: TR0336059256
