Description

TQ 95 NW LYNSTED CHRISTOPHER ROW (west side) 4/44 Dadmans 27.8.52 II House. C17 and early C18. Timber framed and clad and extended in chequered red and blue brick, part rendered, with plain tiled roof. Entrance front: 2 storeys and basement on plinth with 6 pilaster stips and slightly projecting centre, the whole heavily rendered. Hipped roof with return hip right and stacks to centre left and rear centre. Five glazing bar sashes on first floor, and 1 canted bay window to left and 2 glazing bar sashes to right on ground floor. Central half-glazed double doors with sidelights in segment headed opening. Right return front:red and blue chequered brick with plinth and plat band. Interior: heavy beams visible. C17 staircase with splat balusters and moulded hand rail, dog-leg with winder plan. Early C18 stair- case with turned balusters and panelled dado. Originally the Roper dower house to Lynsted Park.
