4/57 Stables, 40 metres east of Brenley 24.1.67 Farmhouse
GV II
Stables. Early C17. Red brick in English bond and plain tiled roof. Two storeys on high plinth with moulded and enriched plat band. Kneelered parapet gables. Four wooden casements high under eaves and 4 mullioned and transomed windows on ground floor. Boarded door to left in chamfered four centred arched surround and half-doors to centre in chamfered four centred stone surround. Left return with pilaster strips. Originally stables to Brenley House (built 1573, rebuilt by Sir John Routh, d.1657). (See Hasted, VII, 7).
