RAMSGATE AUGUSTA ROAD TR 3865 SE (west side) 10/53 Nos. 1-31 (odd numbers) with 13.8.68 railed areas GV II Terrace row. 1840's. Stock brick, part rendered, with slate roofs. Three storeys and basement, with rusticated base, cill band and parapet to roof with stacks ranged left to right. Each house unit with 2 glazing bar sashes on 2nd floor with gauged heads (some painted) (33 bays in all), and bow window to left on basement, ground and first floors, with French windows on first floor with fine star-traceried fanlights, and with continuous tented verandah, with trellised piers, cast iron valancing and heart and honeysuckle panel rails, on simple iron brackets. Triple glazing bar sash with Ionic pilaster surround on ground floor, with raised and fielded panel below, and door of 6 panels to right (16 in all), with semi-circular fanlight at head of flight of steps. Single-glazing bar sash and pointed arched doorways to basements. No. 1 (to end right) is of 3 windows bays, with central bow, the details otherwise identical. Numbers 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 21 and 29 have extra windows inserted on 1st floor to right of bows. Fleur-de-lys rails to basement areas with urn finial principals. Augusta Road was laid out from mid 1840's onwards on Mount Albion estate, home of Lady Augusta Murray (erstwhile wife of Prince Frederick Augustus, Duke of Sussex, 1793-1804) and family.
