From Historic England's National Heritage List for England: " This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 03/05/2016 TR 3864 NW 13/101 RAMSGATE EFFINGHAM STREET (east side) No. 1 (Chancery House) (Formerly listed as Nos. 1 and 5 (Chancery House)) GV II House. Late C18, altered mid C19. Rendered with slate roof. Three storeys with moulded cill bands and cornice parapet to roof with stacks to centre right. Regular fenestration of 5 sashes to 2nd and 1st floors in raised surrounds, and 2 large bows on ground floor. Central door of 6 raised and fielded panels (the central 2 now glazed) with rectangular fanlight and heavy cornice on console brackets. Three storey extension projecting to left, and 2 storey extension to right. Marked on Collard and Hursts 1822 map." Listing NGR: TR3811664929
