RAMSGATE CAVENDISH STREET TR 3865 SW (east side) 9/80 George and Dragon Public House GV II Public house. Circa 1840. Stock brick with rendered details. Two storeys, basement and attic, with moulded cornice, frieze and parapet, 4 flat-roofed dormers and stacks to left and to right. Six bay front with 4 sashes, and blank panels in 2nd and 5th bays on first floor, with 4 sashes and blank panel in 5th bay on ground floor, with half-glazed door to centre left with semi-circular fanlight and rendered head. Basement opening to right. Late C19 plate glass 'pub' front and entrance on rear facade. The George and Dragon was originally on the High Street, but removed here between 1840 and 1845 to these purpose- built premises by Woodland and Grundy, 2 Ramsgate builders who bought land 1839 and laid out and developed Cavendish Street.
