Description

1. 5280 CHIDDINGSTONE BOUGH BEECH Boar Place (Formerly listed as Bore Place) TQ 54 NW 50/204 10.9.54. II 2. Manor house of circa 1745 incorporating older timber framed building. Mentioned in Hasted's History of Kent. Main building T-shaped. Front elevation - Brick with plinth and band with centre projecting and surmounted by brick pediment. ½ hip ridge tile roof with brick corbelled eaves. 2 storeys and ½ basement lights. Symmetrical elevation with centre panelled door with fanlight over and projecting open pedimented porch supported on rounded columns with returned ½ pilasters and continued entablature either side supported on pilasters and including 2 small windows either side of door. Panelled soffit to open pediment. 5 sets of diamond paved casements symmetrically placed. Ground floor windows contained under flat segmental arches of brick headers. Lean-to addition to right hand side with semi-circular window with glazing bars. Older rear wing forms leg of T. Tile hung above, brick below, some C18 sash windows with glazing bars and some iron casements. Old brick chimney of Cl7. Modern but seemly additions to left of main front and to back of old wing, forming a rough H-shape. Listing NGR: TQ5060649018
