LEIGH LEIGH 1, 5280 High Street (North Side) (off) Hall Place TQ 5446 19/672 8.2.74. II GV 2. 1871-2 by George Devey. Large mansion in Tudor style. Irregular front to lakes, much broken back and forward. 2 storeys and attics, with many gable ends; and 3-storey, battlemented square tower. Some projecting 2-storey bays, battlemented or balustraded. Red brick with large diaper of blue headers. Slated roofs with tall brick stacks of elaborate grouped shafts. Stone dressings to battlements and gable ends; and stone mullions and transoms to windows. Doors under carved stone Tudor arches. Garden front in similar style and with 5-storey balustraded square tower at left. Courtyard at south-west end screened by curved walls. Hall Place, the terrace walls and gates to the North West, the terrace walls and steps to North-East, the Estate office and workshop block, the Stable block and the Garden walls form a group.
