                            LEIGH                LEIGH 1. 5280                                          High Street                                          (South side)                                          The Firs.                                          Oak Cottage. TQ 5446 19/693 II 2. Early C20 neo-Tudor pair, possibly by Sir Ernest George.  2 storeys and attic, 3 bays, stepped back towards right.  Tiled roofs.  Tile-hung blank lst floor in right bay.  Other bays gabled, with oversailing gable ends and lst floors on moulded beams.  Geometrical half timbering, with roughcast filling, to 1st floor.  Oriel£bay windows.  Red brick ground floor with square bay at left. In centre porch built out to overhang of 1st floor.  One tiny gabled dormer and tall brick stacks. Oak Cottage has a pent porch on left return.
