Description

1. 5280 PENSHURST FORDCOMBE Springhill (Formerly listed as Fordcombe Manor House) TQ 5240 24/882 10.9.54. II* GV 2. Restored farmhouse. C16 framed structure with early C17 additional gabled wing to right hand side. Front elevation (right hand side). 3 storeys. Deep stone plinth. Ground floor: flat brick octagon bay with wooden mullions and transoms. Small windows either side. First floor: (oversailing). Projecting bay window with restored mullions and transoms supported on carved wooden brackets. Small windows either side. Attic Storey (oversailing). Supported on carved wooden brackets. (Moulded tie beam with W A L 1622). Ornamental carved bargeboards with centre carved wooden pendant at top. Centre attic window. The whole gable end elevation is plastered. Front Elevation (left hand side). Ground floor stone with tile hanging above. Recessed front door with original panelled inner door (up 12 stone steps). Period diamond paned windows throughout. Tiled roof hipped at left, 3 steps up to stone terrace in front. Springhill and 2 barns to North and West form a group. Listing NGR: TQ5215540766
