The following buildings shall be added to the list: TQ 44 SE HEVER HEVER ROAD 55/2006 The Bower GV II House formerly a farmhouse. Circa early C18 reputedly 1710, remodelled and extended in circa late C19 or early C20. Brick built, in stretcher bond on the right hand side the front and left hand side tile-hung on first floor and weatherboarded on ground floor. The rear wing is of brick the left hand side weatherboarded. Plain tile half-hipped roof, the rear wing is gable ended. Projecting gable end stacks. Plan and development: The main front range and possibly the rear right hand outshut is the original circa early C18 house. It has a 2-room plan the rooms of equal size, the left hand the parlour and the right hand the original kitchen with a relatively wide entrance hall between containing a dog-leg staircase. There is an unheated outshut behind the right hand room which might be integral and part of the original plan or a later extension (stretcher bond brick right hand side possibly to conceal joint in brickwork). Late in the C19 or early in C20 the house was remodelled and extended by the addition of a 2-storey kitchen wing, with its own unheated outshut, behind the left hand room. The other alterations of this period include the front porch and bay window to its left and possibly a complete refenestration, replacement of much of the internal joinery including the staircase and possibly the addition of the cloakroom behind in the space between the rear wing and outshut The external weatherboarding, the tile-hanging and conservatory on the right hand side might also be of this period. Exterior: 2-storeys and attic. 3 window south west front symmetrical except for the large ground floor bay window to the left. The bay window is of circa late C19 or early C20 with mullion-transom casements and cornice but the other 3-light and central 1st floor 2-light casements were not examined and might be earlier. Central doorway with late C19 or early C20 half glazed door and porch with slender columns supporting a canopy - entablature. One central hipped dormer with wrought-iron finial and casement. The right hand side has a large external stack with tiled set-off enclosed at the base within a large circa early C20 conservatory The left hand side also has an external stack, the weatherboarding on the ground floor of the front range continues to cover the whole of this side of the rear wing and its outshut. The roof,at the rear continues down at the left over the outshut above which there are 2 hipped dormers and to the right the later wing projects and has a projecting stack and a single storey lean-to outshut on its gable end. Interior: The right hand ground floor has a cross beam with thin chamfers and cyma stops and a large brick fireplace with a similar lintel. The first floor rooms in the front range have chamfered cross-beams with run-out stops. The doorways in the front range have original door frames but only those on the first floor have their C18 2-panel doors, the ground floor rooms are late C19 or C20 replacements. The staircase is also late C19 or early C20 and has turned newels and balusters. The rear right hand room in the outshut has roughly chamfered beams. The roof over the front range was only partly seen but appears to be the original early C18 common-rafter oak structure. Listing NGR: TQ4709444880
