Description

SEVENOAKS KIPPINGTON ROAD TQ 55 SW 4/155 No 121 - II Lodge. Mid C19 lodge formerly to Kippington House with late C20 extension to rear not of special interest. Picturesque Cottage Ornee style. Ground floor of Kentish ragstone with galleting and timber framing above of close-studding with plastered infill. Tiled roof with ribbed brick chimney stack. 1 to 2 storeys 2 windows. Front has a massive. right side porch with chamber over, having elaborate barge- boards with cusped leaf decoration and 5-light mullioned and transomed oriel with Tudor rose carved above. Porch is open at sides and has 4 centred arches, twisted balusters and wooden seats. Plank door.1 storey wing to left with mullioned and transomed window and to left side elevation a 5-light canted bay with cusped barge-boards. Right-hand side has a gable with mullioned window . This lodge was in existence by 1860 as an engraving by Charles Essenhigh Clarke. Listing NGR: TQ5263854122
