Description

1. 5280 SEVENOAKS WEALD SEVENOAKS WEALD Long Barn Road (East Side) Long Barn TQ 55 SW 46/1127 10.9.54. II* 2. At back a C15 hall house. In front and at right angles a C16 house adjoining. These parts of 2 storeys with irregular windows. To left of the C16 house a gabled section, probably early C17, of 2 storeys and attic, 2 windows; and a modern extension. High pitched tiled roofs. Buildings tile hung above, brick below. At back visible timber framing. External stack to rear part, facing road, of C16 with Tudor bricks and stone quoins, rebuilt above. Inside restored but with much good original timber and inglenooks. Narrow hall part opened up, with visible crown posts. Said to have been the house of William Caxton, the first English printer.
