Description
FARNINGHAM HIGH STREET 1. 5280 (north-east side) The White House (Nos 1, 2 and 3) TQ 5467 9/96 1.6.67 II* GV 2. Thought to date from 1743 and mentioned in Hasted's History of Kent of 1797. Three storeys stuccoed and painted black and white. Hipped slate roof. Heavy modillion cornice and parapet. Three sashes with glazing bars intact, including 2 bays on all floors. Doorcase up 4 steps, with engaged Doric columns, pediment, semi-circular fanlight and door of 6 moulded panels. The south-east front has 6 and the north-west front 3 venetian windows, all with 'Gothic' glazing. Red brick chimney breast on the north-east wall.
