Description

1. 5280 BRASTED BRASTED High Street (South Side) 10.9.54. The Mount House. - Wall running west from south-west corner of Mount House. TQ 4755 2/61 II GV 2. Early C18 house with early C19 back parts and large modern additions built to match in 1912. Main part of 2 storeys, 5 windows. Painted brick and stucco. Parapet partly concealing slated roof with dormers. Cornice band below it. Patterned lst floor band. End pilasters through parapet. Sash windows with glazing bars, those on 1st floor in exposed moulded frames. 9 steps to central panelled door, in moulded architrave, with patterned fanlight, in prostyle porch. Set back at left 2-storey kitchen wing, probably a C17 or earlier building. Hipped tiled roof, painted brick walls. Cl8 horizontal sliding sash windows. At right of main house a 2-storey 2-window late C18 part of painted brick with stone-coped parapet. lst floor sash windows with glazing bars. Ground floor blocked window recesses. Adjoining modern 2-storey 5-window wing. Early Cl9 stable wing projecting at right. Painted brick. Low-pitched hipped slate roof with eaves soffit. Length of wall to West. Streatfield House. Premises occupied by M L Maudsley.
