Description

LEIGH 771/0/10095 CINDER HILL LANE 20-DEC-04 Foxwold II House. Probably early C17, refronted in the late C18, refenestrated within existing openings in C20. Timberframed, refronted mainly in Flemish bond brickwork with grey headers to ground floor and tile-hanging to first floor. Tiled roof with end brick chimneystack with base of sandstone and further brick ridge stack. Two storeys with attics in the gable end: irregular fenestration but two windows to front elevation. Casement windows, some with leaded lights. Plan form is two bay end chimneystack house with outshot with catslide roof and L-wing. EXTERIOR: Front elevation has two triple casement windows and wide central doorcase with plank door. INTERIOR: Ground floor has open fireplace with wooden bressumer and spice holes. Exposed spine beams and floor joists. The first floor has a smaller open fireplace to the principal chamber, spine beam with exposed floor joists and gunstock jowled posts. The attic has roof structure with pegged rafters, clasped purlins, collar beams and some diagonal tension braces. C17 plank door beside the chimneystack in the attic. An early C17 timberframed two bay end chimneystack house refronted in the later C18.
